תקציר קורות חיים:

בן לאה ומאיר, נולד בשנת 1919 בווארשה, בירת פולין. עם כניסת הנאצים לפולין הצליח לברוח אל השטח הרוסי אך כאשר ניסה לעבור את הגבול הרוסי בחזרה, נתפס ונשלח לסיביר. משם התגייס לצבא האדום ולחם נגד הגרמנים עד הניצחון.

חנן עבר לאיטליה ושירת שם כמלח. אחר כך עבר לקפריסין ומשם עלה ארצה בתחילת 1948 על-מנת להשתתף במלחמת העצמאות. מיום התגייסותו פעל כחבלן בחיל-ההנדסה ולבסוף נתמנה סמל מחלקת חבלה. הוא השתתף בפעולות רבות בגליל, בקווים הראשונים של החזית, והצטיין בכולן. יחסו לחברים היה ישר ופשוט, ואת המשימה הקשה היה נוהג להטיל על עצמו. חנן היה חסון ומלא מרץ, ובת-צחוק ריחפה תמיד על פניו. את סודו שמר בלבו.

ביום י' בכסלו תש"ט (12.12.1948) נפצע קשה ליד מלכיה, כשנתקל בחוט-מכשול של מוקש. דבריו האחרונים היו: "אני שמח שאני נפלתי קרבן למען תחיו אתם". בלילה מת מפצעיו. הובא למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בחיפה.

Review:

The son of Lea and Meir, he was born in 1919, in Warsaw, the capital of Poland. With the Nazi invasion into Poland, Hanan managed to escape to the Russian territory. But when he tried to pass the Russian border back to Poland, he was captured and sent to Siberia. From there he joined the Red Army and fought against the Germans until victory was achieved.

Hanan moved to Italy and there he served as a sailor. Later on he moved to Cyprus and immigrated to Israel in the beginning of 1948 in order to fight in the War of Independence. From the day he enlisted he served as a sapper in the engineering corps, and later on was appointed sergeant of his subdivision. He participated in many operations in the Galil area, the battlefront - and excelled in them all. His attitude towards his friends was straight and honest, and he left the tough tasks to himself. Hanan was vigorous and strong, and always had a smile on his face. He kept his secrets to himself.

On the 12th of December 1948 he was badly wounded near Malachia, as he stepped onto a mine wire. His last words were: "I am glad to have fallen so that you can live". On that night he died of his injuries. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Haifa.
